// THE PAYMENT FORMULA
No deductions · No mystery weights · No end-of-month batching
Albon Metals & Recycling pays against two variables and two variables only: the net weight off the certified weighbridge, and the verified grade of the material. Both are documented on the ticket. Both are auditable. Neither is adjusted in the back office.
Material rates track the LME (London Metal Exchange) — refreshed daily at 09:00 AEST and applied consistently to every depositor that day, regardless of channel. Minimum-tonnage thresholds apply only to free pickup and free bin hire; walk-in trade carries no minimum at either branch.
Drive it in for immediate payment. Accept a bin on-site for ongoing industrial volume. Book a one-off pickup for a household clear-out. The mechanism is identical — only the logistics differ.
Deliver the metal directly to either branch for immediate payment. Pull onto the certified weighbridge, ticketed on the spot.
For ongoing tonnage — manufacturers, fabricators, demolition contractors, electrical firms, builders. We drop bins to your door, collect on call, settle by EFT.
One-off pickup for household clear-outs — fridges, washing machines, ovens, dryers, hot water units, roofing iron, baths, cables and the rest of the shed.
Bin size is determined by the volume of material on site. We'll talk you through the right format for your throughput and the rotation cadence — daily, weekly or on-call.
Workshop offcuts, sparkie van clear-outs, single-trade jobs. Drops in tight access.
Mid-range builders, recurring fabrication waste, multi-day plumbing jobs.
Larger builds, demolition phases, ongoing factory floor scrap from manufacturers.
High-tonnage industrial, multi-bin demolition projects, wrecker-yard offload.
Container-scale loads, bulk ferrous, recurring tonnage contracts.
Drop and collect when you call. No standing tonnage, no idle fee.
Full bin out, empty bin in — same truck, same visit. No production downtime.
House clear-out, garage strip, one-job pickup. No account required.
// MINIMUM TONNAGE — APPLIES TO FREE SERVICES ONLY
Walk-in trade has no minimum — drop a single piece at either branch and we'll weigh and pay against it. Free pickup and free bin hire kick in above published tonnage thresholds, set by stream and confirmed at booking. Speak to the yard for current minimums applicable to your material type.
Every load — walk-in, industrial bin pickup, or domestic — runs the same five-step sequence. Each step photographed, timestamped and logged. Audit-ready by default.
Quote within the hour. We confirm grade, tonnage estimate and pickup or drop-in window.
Direct delivery to either branch, or pickup by our fleet inside the booked window.
Net weight off the certified weighbridge. NMI-calibrated, quarterly verified.
Material verified — spectroscopy on non-ferrous, magnetic test on stainless.
EFT within 48 hours, or cash on the day for walk-in trade under the threshold.
All metal rates track the London Metal Exchange quote, refreshed every business day at 09:00 AEST. The same rate applies to every depositor that day — walk-in or industrial, ute-load or container-load.
View Grade TablesThe questions we hear most often at the gate, on the phone, and in trade enquiries. Straight answers, no hedging.
// 01 · WALK-IN PAYMENT
Yes. Walk-in deliveries to either branch are weighed, graded and paid on the spot — cash for smaller loads, EFT same business day for larger. No appointment, no holding period.
// 02 · MINIMUM TONNAGE
There's no minimum for walk-in trade. A single car battery, a length of copper pipe, a milk-crate of brass fittings — all paid against. Minimums only apply to free pickup and free bin hire, where the published thresholds vary by stream.
// 03 · WEIGHBRIDGE
Both branches operate weighbridges calibrated quarterly to National Measurement Institute (NMI) standards. Calibration certificates are displayed on-site and available on request. The number on the bridge is the number on the ticket — no back-office adjustment, no end-of-day reconciliation.
// 04 · GRADING
You see the grading happen. If we downgrade something — copper called as #2 instead of bare bright, brass downgraded for contamination — we show you why. If you'd rather take the load back and re-present it cleaner, that's your call. No load is finalised against you without your sign-off.
// 05 · LME PRICING
The London Metal Exchange publishes daily spot prices for the major non-ferrous metals — copper, aluminium, lead, zinc, nickel, tin. Albon refreshes its rate matrix against the LME every business day at 09:00 AEST and applies the same rate to every depositor that day. Ferrous grades are indexed to local mill pricing, refreshed weekly.
// 06 · IDENTIFICATION
Yes, over the legislated cash-purchase threshold set by Victoria Police under the Second-Hand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Act. We ask for a driver's licence on first-time deposits and on cash payments above the threshold — keeps the trade clean for everyone.
// 07 · ACCOUNTS
Yes. Industrial accounts run a monthly statement, scheduled or on-call pickups, and consolidated EFT settlement. Named contact on the trade desk, weighbridge tickets emailed in real time, GST tax invoices issued automatically.
// FOR DEPOSITORS
Skip the back-and-forth. Send us photos and a postcode — we'll have a quote and a collection slot back within the hour.
